Network Marketing's New Age At this point you could say we are true veterans. Our first brush with Network Marketing was in 1982. They called it Multi-Level Marketing back then, or MLM. The company was Eureka Foods. I don’t remember much about it other than their products. They had Space-Age packaging from the technology developed by NASA for a variety of foods. I remember the Salisbury Steak. It was actually pretty good. They said that with their special packaging their foods could be stored- without refrigeration- for up to three years! The problem? Nobody liked the idea of eating a three year old unrefrigerated Salisbury Steak. Back then you were coached to make a list of everybody you knew (create a “warm market list”) and recruit as many as you could. Another problem- if you got to the end of that list and nobody joined you- you failed. You can imagine people who started with unbridled enthusiasm who chased and pestered their friends and relatives. That’s why our industry developed a poor reputation. Fast forward to 2012. The old way of doing things in Network Marketing is gone. Are you still coached to make a list of friends, family, and co-workers? Sure, but the approach has totally changed. Why? The internet! Social Networking, Pay-per-click advertising, and Search Engine Optimization are the new power tools of today’s marketer. A new Networker should still want the friends, family, and co-workers to hear about their new venture, but there is a world of people accessible via the internet to talk with too. The internet takes all the pressure off of the warm market list. No longer will you have to worry about your success being directly linked to how many friends, relatives, and co-workers decide to join your business. You can use tools and systems to let them know about the opportunity and then let them decide for themselves. No pressure, no chasing, no rejection. and no hard feelings- on either side. Kim and I are Independent Marketers- just like you will be when you join us. We coach new marketers to let their warm list people know about their new business without the slightest pressure or expectations. At the same time we connect them with the most powerful tools available to build a massive internet presence.
